
Heather Riordan the Director of the Phelps Center for Cerebral Palsy (CP) and Developmental Medicine at the Kennedy Krieger Institute with a joint appointment in Neurology at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute. She attended medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed a residency in child neurology at Washington University in St. Louis. She initially worked at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, including in the surgical tone clinic and the Tourette Syndrome Association of America Center of Excellence, she joined Vanderbilt where she gained additional training in movement disorders, served as the director for the pediatric baclofen pump team, participated in the surgical tone clinic, grew the botulinum toxin program, created a pediatric arm to the DBS program, created a pediatric arm to the Huntington’s Disease Center of Excellence at Vanderbilt, and co-founded the Tourette Syndrome Center of Excellence at Vanderbilt. In her current role, she is creating structured and holistic pathways for transitions and optimizing medical documentation systems for quality improvement and data capture. She has participated in several clinical trials. Her primary interests include complex motor disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions associated with movement disorders, and transitional care models.
