
Todd A. Milbrandt, MD, is the chair of the pediatric orthopedic surgery division at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, MN. He has been married to Mary Beth Magyar since 1996 and have 2 children.
He holds a Bachelor’s of science degree in biology from the University of Puget Sound, and received medical and masters degrees from the University of Virginia. He completed his residency in orthopaedics at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center and specialized in pediatric orthopaedics with training at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas. He has been in practice since 2004.
He is Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Consultant at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He cares for all patients with pediatric musculoskeletal concerns including, clubfeet, patella instability, scoliosis and pediatric fractures. His clinical and research interests include non-fusion surgery for scoliosis. In his partnership with Dr. Larson, he enrolls patients in both local and national studies to investigate innovative techniques and holds patents in the non-fusion scoliosis space.
He is a long-time, active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and was elected to the Academy’s Board of Directors at its 2013 Annual Meeting in Chicago. He is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society and the American Orthopedic Association. His “society home” has always been POSNA where he has volunteered since 2004. He has served as Board member at large, Secretary, IPOS director, and now President.
Outside of work, Dr. Milbrandt enjoys time with his family camping in the wild areas of Minnesota and anywhere his bicycle can take him.
