
Dr. Boyer is a Clinical Scientist at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare and Co-Director of the Cerebral Palsy Institute Research Program. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Orthopedic Surgery Department at the University of Minnesota and Rehab Science Graduate Faculty. She received her BS, MS, and PhD in kinesiology with an emphasis in biomechanics and motor control from Iowa State University. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in pathological gait where she helped lead some of the first long-term outcome studies in adults with cerebral palsy, exploring comprehensive outcomes after various orthopedic surgeries in childhood and adolescence. Her research primarily focuses on assessing sensorimotor impairments and their impact on gross motor outcomes in children and adults with cerebral palsy. Dr. Boyer’s greatest interest is in working with people with lived experience to better study the effects of balance impairment and falls on their life and identify effective fall monitoring and fall-prevention interventions.
