Dr. Ed Hurvitz, Chair of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan, presents his research to test the feasibility of using grip strength to assess body composition in people with cerebral palsy. Body composition is an important predictor of health risks and health outcomes but it is hard to assess in CP because traditional measurements like body mass index are not meaningful. Dr. Hurvitz explains the the problems with traditional measurements and shares the aims of his recently funded study.
