
James McCarthy, MHCM, MD has served for over 12 years as the Division Director of Orthopaedic Surgery, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Alvin Crawford Chair in Pediatric Orthopaedics, and Professor of Orthopaedics Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He received his engineering degree at the University of Wisconsin, his Medical degree at the University of North Carolina, and trained at the Cleveland Clinic and Colorado Children’s Hospital. In 2014 he received his Masters of Health Care Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. His clinical interests include the treatment of children with cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular disorders; complex pediatric hip and limb deformities; gait analysis; and quality improvement and safety initiatives. He served as president of POSNA in 2016-17, and as president of the LLRS in 2011-2013, and strongly believes in the strength of diverse leadership and the mission of POSNA to serve children through outreach, education and research.
