
Nivedita Thakur, MD is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. She is the Co-Director for both the Pediatric Movement Disorders Center and Center for the Treatment of Pediatric Neurodegenerative Disease.
Dr. Thakur earned her medical degree from McGovern Medical School in 2008. She then completed her Pediatric residency and Child Neurology fellowship at McGovern Medical School at UT Health in 2013. She went on to complete a Pediatric Movement Disorders & Neurodegenerative Diseases Fellowship at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in 2014.
Dr. Thakur joined faculty as an assistant professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth from 2014-2021. She then moved to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as an Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology & Pediatrics at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 2021-2024. She recently moved back to McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in 2024.
As a pediatric movement disorders specialist, Dr. Thakur works with a multidisciplinary team to care for medically complex patients. Her research efforts focus on natural history studies and developing biomarkers for movement disorders seen in patients with cerebral palsy and rare neurological diseases.
