Corbett Ryan is an adult with CP who has dedicated his life to pioneering for individuals with differences. His “Can Do” attitude has been an inspiration to many and has made him a positive force for change in our society. Corbett represented the United States at the United Nations delegation for persons with disabilities in Vienna, Austria. Corbett has used his knowledge of inclusion in the classroom and workplace to speak publicly on these issues. Corbett was a participant in the first National Council on Disability First Youth with Disabilities in Washington, D.C.

Corbett has been riding and competing in horse shows since 2005. In an effort to make premier equestrian shows inclusive for all athletes, Corbett petitioned the All American Quarter Horse Congress to include a category for riders who use sidewalkers in the Congress Horse Show in Columbus, Ohio. This is the world’s largest single breed horse show. Due to Corbett’s efforts, a class for supported riders was included for the first time in October, 2015.

Corbett began working as an assistant to the Assistant Athletic Director of Community Relations at Northwestern University in 2013 and attracts 20 under-invited groups to Northwestern sports games annually. He has also worked at Lurie Children’s Hospital, assisting patients and families in the Emergency Department. Corbett is a volunteer assistant to the coach of the Northwestern women’s basketball team and holds the same position with the Chicago Sky, a WNBA team.

Corbett is an active member of the Advisory Board for Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education where he is a voice for making Catholic education more inclusive for all learners. Corbett serves on the board of World Sport Chicago, is a member of the Rehabilitation Institution of Chicago’s Associate’s Board, and sits on the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s Founder’s Board.
Corbett is a 2005 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. Magna Cum Laude in American Studies. He resides in Chicago, where he tirelessly cheers for his beloved Cubs!
